Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council employs around 11,000 staff and is one of the largest Councils in Wales. Our aim is to provide a high quality, accurate and customer focussed payroll service to our employees, managers and schools.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self\-motivated person to join our team.
The post holder will be responsible for:
Maintaining employee payroll records, calculating payments from complex shift patterns and processing the payments using our integrated HR \& Payroll software. Understanding and interpreting regulations that apply to Statutory Payments such as Sick Pay, Maternity and Paternity Pay in addition to Pension Scheme rules and legislation. Providing accurate and detailed information for the Pensions Section to pay retirement benefits and make refunds. All other calculations necessary to ensure employee payments are accurate, paid in accordance with legislation and within strict deadlines. Ensuring any correspondence issued is clear and accurate. Dealing with enquiries in a helpful and timely manner by telephone, letter and email. Participating in office cover during ‘core’ hours to include 5pm cover as per a rota.
The successful candidate will need to be interested in learning and enjoy taking on different tasks. Be thorough, with an attention to detail and aim to complete each piece of work accurately and within the timescales set out. Be comfortable dealing with high volumes of work , a variety of different tasks and able to manage their workload. Be a team player who enjoy working with others. Successful candidates will also need to be good communicators, both in written and verbal communications and be focused on providing excellent customer service.
Previous experience of working in a payroll environment would be beneficial for this role but is not essential as training will be provided.
You will be supported in your personal development and have the opportunity to gain industry qualifications as your career progresses.
We have hybrid working arrangements in place and attend the office every Monday and Tuesday and work from home Wednesday to Friday. Attendance at the office is mandatory and the offices are based in Oldway House, Porth.
