Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
A career opportunity has arisen for a Multi\-Skilled Maintenance Engineer at Centaur Manufacturing.
Centaur is an established manufacturing business based in Redditch, Worcestershire since 1974\. Our principle activity is the manufacture of PVC\-U cable management systems supplied to the electrical industry via 400 electrical distributors throughout the United Kingdom.
We are seeking a ‘hands on’ experienced multi\-skilled maintenance engineer to maximise factory utilisation and yield.
The Centaur Engineering Department currently operates 16 hours per day, 5 days per week (6am \- 2pm and 2pm \- 10pm). Centaur production departments operate 24 hours a day and therefore the successful candidate may be required to be flexible in their shift availability.
Key Responsibilities:
· Breakdown Response: Diagnose and repair faults on extrusion lines, injection moulding machines, a compound plant, chillers, compressors and ancillary equipment under tight time pressures.
· Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled PPM routines to minimise factory downtime and extend machinery lifespan.
· Continuous Improvement: Modify machinery, upgrade controls, and improve production efficiency or safety standards.
· Tooling Support: Assist with barrel and screw changes and thermocouple/heater band installation.
· Facilities Maintenance: Maintain site infrastructure including cooling systems, lighting, plumbing and material feeding systems.
Desired Technical Skills:
- Electrical: Fault finding on PLCs, AC/DC drives, AC/DC three phase motors, pumps and temperature control panels.
- Mechanical: Replacing bearings, gearboxes, drive belts, pulleys etc.
- Fluid Power: Troubleshooting high\-pressure hydraulic circuits and pneumatic systems safely.
· Fully Accredited and Certified to City and Guilds or equivalent.
- Electrical: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671\) certification is essential along with fully qualified in three phase electrical installations.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual, with a high attention to detail and have hands on engineering/maintenance experience, good people skills and a proven track record of managing their workload by priority. They will also be proactive in their approach to work with the ability to work to a deadline in a fast\-paced environment and with health and safety of the forefront of their work (lock off, tag off, test off as an example).
