Job Purpose

The Warehouse Operative is a reliable and hardworking link in the logistics team, responsible for the efficient flow of goods, from receiving deliveries to preparing orders for dispatch. The ideal Warehouse Operative is physically fit, detail\-oriented, and committed to maintaining a safe, organised workspace.

Key Responsibilities

Goods In \& Out

  • Receiving: Unload delivery vehicles and check incoming stock against delivery notes to ensure accuracy.

  • Dispatch: Pick, pack, and label customer orders accurately, ensuring items are secured for transit.

  • Loading: Assist in loading outbound vehicles to meet strict collection deadlines.
Inventory \& Quality Control
  • Stock Placement: Move items to their correct storage locations using manual handling or warehouse equipment.

  • Quality Checks: Inspect goods for damage and report any discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.

  • Reporting: Assist with regular stocktakes and inventory counts to maintain system accuracy.
Site Maintenance \& Safety
  • Housekeeping: Keep the warehouse, packing stations, and loading bays clean and free of hazards.

  • Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Waste Management: Process packaging waste (cardboard, plastic) in line with company recycling policies.
Other
  • Support or undertake other tasks or special projects as directed by management.
Qualifications \& Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment is preferred but not essential.

  • Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long periods and must be comfortable with manual handling (lifting up to 20/25kg in line with UK HSE safety guidelines).

  • Attributes: High level of accuracy, a "can\-do" attitude, and the ability to work well within a team.

  • Reliability: Strong punctuality and the flexibility to work to ensure deadlines are achieved.

  • Licensing (Optional): A valid Forklift License (Counterbalance or Reach) is a significant advantage.
Pay: £26,000\.00\-£27,000\.00 per year
