Textile Carding Maintenance Engineer

Overview

A leading textile manufacturer is seeking a skilled Textile Mechanical Engineer with strong, hands\-on experience on carding machinery. The ideal candidate will understand fibre behaviour, machine tolerances, and the precise adjustments required to keep non‑woven carding lines running efficiently. This role is essential to maintaining machine performance, reliability and product quality.

Duties

• Conduct Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on carding machines


• Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns across carding lines


• Diagnose faults on cylinders, strippers, doffers, workers, lickers‑in, feed systems and delivery sections


• Perform alignment, clearance setting, tensioning and fine adjustments to maintain fibre flow and web quality


• Support maintenance on additional machinery lines or similar carding equipment


• Assist with rebuilds, strip‑downs.


• Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and enhance machine performance


• Contribute to root cause analysis, asset care and continuous improvement initiatives


• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures


• Replace worn or damaged components


• Carry out mechanical inspections and general maintenance


• Undertake hands‑on machine disassembly, reassembly and mechanical upkeep


• Demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills

• Forklift truck licence


• Strong team player with excellent communication skills


• Reliable, flexible and positive “can‑do” attitude


• High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

Pay: £32,000\.00\-£38,000\.00 per year
