We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Band 5 Community Children’s Nurse to join our supportive Community Children’s Nursing Team on a fixed\-term maternity leave cover contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Registered Children’s Nurse to gain valuable experience within community paediatrics. We warmly welcome applications from newly qualified nurses and will provide a comprehensive induction, structured preceptorship, and ongoing support to help you develop confidently within the role.

Working within the community, you will deliver high\-quality, child and family\-centred care to children and young people with a range of acute, chronic, and complex health needs across home, school, and clinic settings.

Main duties of the role

• Deliver evidence\-based nursing care to children and young people within the community


• Support children with complex and additional healthcare needs


• Provide education and support to families and carers to promote independence and wellbeing


• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, schools, social care, and partner agencies


• Participate in assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and clinical reviews


• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with NMC standards


• Contribute positively to service development and team learning


• Provide nursing cover one day a week at a Special Educational Needs school alongside experienced colleagues

Qualifications:
About you

We are looking for candidates who:

• Are Registered Children’s Nurses (RN Child/RSCN) or due to qualify soon


• Have excellent communication and organisational skills


• Are compassionate, adaptable, and eager to learn


• Can work independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team


• Have an interest in community children’s nursing and delivering care closer to home
