Job description

Mae’r ddogfen hon ar gael yn Gymraeg / This document is also available in Welsh.Temporary Recruitment \& Retention Officer\- Foster Wales 37 Hours per weekUnit 1 Maritime Industrial Estate, Pontypridd

You could help us increase the number of foster carers for children in your local area.

A role you can be passionate about. You can make a difference for children who need somewhere safe, local, welcoming \- somewhere to call home. Finding more local foster carers can give children a family home environment rather than residential care, stay local rather than moving far away from everything that’s familiar.

As a Fostering Recruitment \& Retention Officer you can play your part in improving the lives of so many.

Local people interested in becoming a foster carer want to talk to someone who can answer their questions and understand their way of life. Using your knowledge of children and the local area, you can reassure them, sharing real stories of children in care (especially if you’ve already worked within social services, been a foster carer, care experienced or been part of a fostering family) you can explain things concisely in an easy\-to\-understand way.

By being motivated, organised and methodical, you can make a good first impression via phone, email or in person, to make people feel that they’ve chosen the right people to foster with and to trust their family with.

Having a flexible working pattern, whether that’s sometimes at home, in the office or out about meeting people face to face within your local area, you’ll be available \- to ask the silly things to. You can take the time to talk, without any pressure – we don’t do pushy sales techniques.

A real people person with the ability to listen and build a relationship with, encouraging people from all backgrounds (who may feel judged or daunted), to relax, be themselves and keep a conversation going. A person who can follow their fostering journey and work with the local Foster Wales team to provide ongoing support, organise social events and other engagement activities for all local authority foster carers.

A warm friendly welcome can make all the difference, to people who might be talking themselves out of fostering. Your support, a friendly face and a chat could be the difference in finding more foster carers for children in the local area. As the first point of contact for your local Foster Wales team, you can guide people on their journey to be great foster carers. If you would like more information in relation to the post please contact Amy McArdle at Amy.mcardle@rctcbc.gov.uk.
