Support Worker – Young People (16-18)

As a Support Worker, you’ll build consistent, trusting relationships with young people in our homes and provide day\-to\-day practical, emotional and social support. You’ll help them develop independence skills, stay safe, engage in education or work, and feel part of their community, all while upholding the values of compassion, integrity and accountability.

At Dreams and Purpose Care Group Ltd, we believe every young person deserves a future filled with hope, purpose and possibility. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to help people aged 16\-18 develop the confidence, resilience and life skills needed to transition successfully into adulthood.

*What you’ll do:*

  • Build positive, professional boundaries and relationships with young people

  • Provide consistent emotional and practical support that promotes confidence, self\-worth and resilience

  • Teach and coach independence skills, cooking and meal planning, budgeting, shopping and household tasks, laundry and personal care, managing appointments and correspondence, and travel training

  • Encourage and support participation in education, training and employment and help set and pursue goals

  • Promote health, wellbeing and positive routines, while encouraging participation in hobbies, interests and community activities that build confidence, identity and belonging

  • Safeguard young people in line with policy and statutory frameworks, recognise, respond to and report concerns promptly

  • Follow missing\-from\-home protocols and risk management plans, escalating concerns appropriately when required

  • Support young people to understand and manage risks (exploitation, county line/CSE, substance misuse, criminal involvement, self\-harm, risk\-taking)

  • Deliver outcome\-focused keywork sessions and contribute to support plans, pathway plans and reviews

  • Maintain accurate, timely and objective records, including daily logs, handovers, incident reports, keywork sessions and risk assessments

  • Work collaboratively with social workers, Personal Advisors (PAs), education providers, health/CAMHS, families (where appropriate) and other agencies representing the service professionally at all times

  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, well\-maintained home, complete H\&S checks and report hazards

  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, team culture aligned to our values
*About You – Essential*
  • Have a genuine passion for working with young people and making a positive difference

  • Clear understanding of safeguarding and the duty to protect children and young people

  • Ability to build professional, boundaried relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate records

  • Calm, grounded and solution\-focused under pressure

  • Team player who can also use initiative when working alone

  • Basic IT skills and confidence using digital recording systems

  • Willingness to complete mandatory training and ongoing professional development

  • Must hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate suitable for working with children or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

  • Full UK driving licence preferred (not essential, service\-dependent)
*Desirable*
  • Experience in care, support, youth work, supported accommodation or residential childcare

  • Knowledge of trauma\-informed practice and adolescent risk (exploitation, county lines, missing)

  • Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People’s Services, or Health \& Social Care (or commitment to work toward this)

  • ·Additional training in safeguarding, first aid or adolescent risk
