Store Community Manager

Role Overview

We're looking for a passionate, energetic and community\-focused York Community Manager to lead our new store and grow the Goose \& Gander community across York.

This isn't your typical retail management role. While you'll be responsible for leading the day\-to\-day operation of our flagship York store, you'll also be the driving force behind bringing the Goose \& Gander brand to life within the city.

From organising community events and collaborating with local businesses to creating memorable in\-store experiences, you'll help make our York store a destination that people genuinely want to visit.

You'll build and develop a high\-performing team, create an exceptional customer experience, drive commercial performance and become the face of Goose \& Gander in York.

Key Responsibilities

Community \& Brand

• Become the face of Goose \& Gander within the York community.


• Build meaningful relationships with local customers, universities, creatives, cafés, fitness studios, charities and businesses.


• Plan, organise and host regular in\-store events, workshops, launches and community activations.


• Identify opportunities to grow our local presence through partnerships and collaborations.


• Create excitement around new product launches and seasonal campaigns.


• Gather customer feedback and community insight to help shape future initiatives.

Store Leadership

• Lead the York store, creating a positive, ambitious and inclusive culture.


• Recruit, train and develop an exceptional retail team.


• Coach the team to deliver outstanding customer experiences every day.


• Lead by example on the shop floor and set the standard for service and brand knowledge.


• Complete regular performance reviews and support ongoing development.

Customer Experience

• Deliver an inspiring, welcoming and memorable shopping experience.


• Ensure every customer feels part of the Goose \& Gander community.


• Maintain exceptional visual merchandising standards throughout the store.


• Support customers with styling advice, product recommendations and personalisation options.


• Drive customer engagement through email sign\-ups, community events and loyalty.

Commercial Performance

• Take ownership of store sales, profitability and KPIs.


• Monitor performance, identifying opportunities to improve sales and customer experience.


• Manage rotas, labour budgets and daily operations.


• Oversee stock management, deliveries, replenishment and inventory accuracy.


• Ensure health \& safety and operational standards are consistently maintained.

Experience organising community events, brand activations or local partnerships would be highly desirable.

What You'll Be Doing

No two weeks will look the same. You could be:

• Hosting a creative workshop in\-store.


• Organising a university pop\-up.


• Collaborating with a local coffee shop.


• Running a community social evening.


• Launching a new collection.


• Coaching your retail team.


• Planning York\-based brand collaborations.


• Analysing store performance and implementing new ideas.


• Creating experiences that turn customers into loyal members of the Goose \& Gander community.

Salary starting point: £30,000\+ plus commission
