Job summary

Join our dynamic Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team at Musgrove Park Hospital and play a key role in delivering fast, effective, and compassionate care to patients with acute medical needs. As an RGN in SDEC, you will provide high quality assessments, support rapid diagnostics, and deliver timely treatment to help patients avoid unnecessary hospital admission.
This is a fast paced, varied clinical environment where you will work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team, using your clinical expertise, problem solving skills, and patient centred approach to support safe same day discharge and an excellent patient experience. We are seeking experienced nurses with a strong acute care background who can confidently manage a wide range of clinical presentations in a fast moving environment. However, we also welcome applications from newly qualified nurses. Main duties, tasks \& skills required

To provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care. To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting the philosophy of care.
To deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi\-disciplinary approach to patient\-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.
Experienced Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the department, in the absence of the senior members of the team, which empowers staff to deliver patient\- centred, evidence based nursing care

Associated training for emergency nursing, such as but not limited to: Immediate Life Support (Adult \+ Paeds), Triage training to the latest national standard, IV Administration, Mentorship, Cannulation and Venepuncture and ECG Interpretation.

Previous NHS Emergency Department/SDEC work experience or equivalent experience in an acute/emergency care department.
