Senior Planning Engineer

Job Role
We are looking for a skilled Senior Planner to join our team based in Birmingham, supporting the successful delivery of a flagship transmission upgrade project located in East Anglia, which includes 69km of new Overhead Line, one new Substation and two Substation extensions.
In this role, you will develop and maintain the detailed delivery programme, from pre\-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring programmes are efficient, realistic, and aligned with contractual requirements. You will also play a key role in driving project performance, monitoring progress, and supporting decision\-making across project teams.
Duties
- Develop and maintain detailed delivery programmes in P6, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and Client Standard Operating Procedures.
- Collaborate with project teams and supply chain to make sure the methodology, sequence of works and assumptions are always up to date and align planning with delivery.
- Manage programme interfaces between OTW and other GGP Partners and participate in interface meetings with the Client and other GGP Partners.
- Assist the Planning Manager with preparation of programme narratives and submission documentation.
- Communicate and promote the programme and share programme insight with the project team to support decision making.
- Produce resource\-loaded and cost\-loaded programmes to support resource planning, procurement strategies and forecasting.
- Identify delay events and perform delay analysis to assess time entitlement as per the Contract.
- Produce what\-if programmes as required.
- Produce accurate reports on project progress and performance and forecasts including Earned Value Analysis.
- Identify programme risks and opportunities, and build risk allowances into plans.
- Ensure programmes reflect safe systems of work and support health \& safety requirements.
- Support procurement and commercial teams with price build\-up, tender preparation and review, subcontractor programme review, compensation events, etc.
- Support and mentor junior members of the team as required.
- Experience working as Senior Planner for a main Contractor on similar large\-scale infrastructure projects
- Very good understanding of project delivery life\-cycle and construction methodologies
- Ability to produce end\-to\-end construction programmes independently based on given scope of works, drawings, etc.
- Ability to lead collaborative planning workshops and integrate programmes combining input from different disciplines/stakeholders
- Strong knowledge in Primavera P6
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Good understanding of NEC3/NEC4 form of contracts
- Experience in delay analysis and producing what\-if programmes
- Strong experience in project performance reporting and Earned Value Analysis
- Excellent communication skills
- A team player with a collaborative mindset and proactive approach
Hours: Full Time \- 40 hours \- Monday to Friday
