Purchasing Manager
About the Role
SCM is a forward moving, expanding company with excellent expertise in Robotics and Automation, working with major blue\-chip companies.
We are seeking an experienced and results\-driven Purchasing Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing procurement operations, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring cost\-effective purchasing strategies that support the organisation’s objectives.
You will play a key role in optimising supply chain performance, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across all purchasing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies aligned with company goals
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms and pricing
- Manage supplier relationships and performance to ensure quality, reliability, and value
- Oversee procurement processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with internal departments to forecast demand
- Identify cost\-saving opportunities and drive efficiency across the supply chain
- Analyse market trends and assess risks to inform purchasing decisions
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing team
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Manager, or similar role
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship\-building skills
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Experience with Sage Line 50
- Solid understanding of supply chain management and purchasing processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment
- Relevant degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSM)
- Experience in \[industry—e.g., manufacturing, retail, logistics]
