Job description
Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
The Housing Systems Development Team is responsible for managing the delivery of key IT projects within the Housing division. IT projects range from smaller scale improvements and development of existing systems up to larger scale projects involving the procurement and replacement of major Housing systems.
We are currently looking for a suitably experienced Project Manager to lead on the delivery of major IT projects; the role is vital to ensure that the Housing division makes best use of available technology and systems to enable effective working and to allow the authority to make financial savings.
This is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday. You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit the needs of the service with an expectation to work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll report directly to the Programme Manager who will delegate projects and provide support and guidance on their delivery. Liaising with a variety of stakeholders at all levels on a regular basis and ensure project principles are adhered to and you will be responsible for all project documentation.
Within this role, you’ll implement and deliver a stakeholder management and communications plan and strategy as appropriate for each project, ensuring that key stakeholders are engaged in the right way and at the right time. In addition, you’ll be in regular contact with the business areas and suppliers to ensure requirements are fully understood and documented and that our systems meet these requirements as fully as possible and to ensure projects are delivered to the agreed timescales and within budget.
As part of the role, you’ll chair project meetings and lead in system design workshops. And will required to manage resources, with the opportunity to train staff in the use of systems.
What you’ll need
Your experience of being an effective member of a multi discipline project team in a major organisation will enable you to deliver the desired project outcomes. Using your knowledge of business processes and IT systems within Housing, you will ensure that the Housing service has the technology to work effectively and efficiently. With experience of training, and delivering presentations, you will ensure your audience is engaged and fully understand the learning outcomes.
Whilst using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you’ll be able to effectively liaise with stakeholders including senior management, suppliers, members of the public and co\-workers. You must be familiar with system implementation and change processes; this includes Requirement Specifications and User Acceptance Testing.
