We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital and expense projects within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This is an exciting opportunity to manage projects across Utilities, Automation/IT, Manufacturing, Laboratory and Process Systems, overseeing the full project lifecycle from concept through to implementation and closeout.

Reporting to the Projects Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery against safety, quality, schedule and budget objectives. Projects will include process improvements, tech transfers, equipment upgrades, capacity expansion initiatives and site infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities


  • Manage projects through the full lifecycle from concept development to commissioning and handover.

  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with approved scope.

  • Develop business cases, budgets, cost estimates and project execution strategies.

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manage project schedules, resources, risks and financial performance.

  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements and company procedures.

  • Oversee procurement activities, including equipment specifications and contractor management.

  • Support commissioning, qualification and validation activities where required.

  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.

  • Mentor junior project managers and support the development of the wider project team.

  • Complete project closeout documentation and lessons learned activities.

Requirements


  • Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Automation or Process Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years' project management experience within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Proven experience managing projects throughout the full lifecycle from design through commissioning and handover.

  • Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, risk management and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex engineering projects safely, on time and within budget.

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing contractors.

  • Strong financial management skills, including project budgeting and cash flow forecasting.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience using SAP and project budgeting tools is advantageous.

  • Experience working within a matrix organisation.

  • PMP®, Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent qualification is desirable.

  • Biologics manufacturing experience is desirable
