About the Role
We are seeking a skilled General Engineer to join our commercial vehicle workshop team. This is a hands\-on role covering general mechanical, structural, and repair work across our fleet and customer vehicles. Candidates with welding and fabrication experience are especially encouraged to apply, as this skill set is highly valued for chassis, bodywork, and structural repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general engineering and mechanical repairs on commercial vehicles
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs to a high standard, first time
- Perform welding and fabrication work where required (chassis repairs, brackets, bodywork, custom fabrication)
- Read and interpret technical/engineering drawings where applicable
- Work safely and efficiently within workshop procedures and timelines
- Liaise with foremen and workshop management on job progress and parts requirements
- Maintain accurate job records and complete work to warranty/insurance standards where relevant
- Proven experience in a general engineering, mechanical, or motor trade role
- Welding and fabrication experience (MIG/TIG) strongly preferred
- Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose mechanical issues
- Strong attention to detail and quality of work
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Full driving licence (own transport an advantage)
- Right to work in Ireland
