AMS Trenchless Specialists are one of the largest Horizontal Directional Drilling specialists in the UK. As a market leading specialist supplier within the utility and renewables sector, AMS provide innovative solutions for the installation of underground pipe and ducting using trenchless excavation methods. AMS currently have an exciting senior career opportunity for an experienced Plant and Workshop Manager based at our Scunthorpe headquarters.

The Role

Working closely with the operations team you will provide efficient, effective management of the workshop department which maintains the company plant, equipment and vehicles. You will be responsible for the ensuring compliance of driver and vehicles to current regulations, as well as maintaining compliance with PUWER and LOLER for the equipment within your control.

Skills / Experience

· Must have proven track record of heavy plant maintenance within the construction industry

· Previous experience as transport manager with CPC qualification would be advantageous although not essential

· SHEQ focused

· NVQIII Plant Maintenance would be preferred

· Ability to plan and prioritise workload to meet deadlines

· Excellent communication and teamwork skills

· Proficient in the use of Microsoft office

· Driving Licence required

Key Responsibilities

· The safe delivery of all workshop operations and activities

· Management of the workshop team and integration with operations department

· Management of external suppliers, contractors and temporary resources

· Management of additional resources between projects where drilling operatives are allocated to yard duties

· Plan and maintain schedule of routine equipment maintenance

· Ensure key plant and equipment is ready for deployment when required

· Development of “best practice” Health, Safety and Environmental company procedures relevant to your department

· Ensure regulatory compliance is maintained inc.

The Package

· Salary negotiable depending on qualifications and experience

· 25 days paid holiday, plus bank and public holidays

· Full time working hrs based on 50hr week

Licence/Certification:
