Planner
Working directly under the Project Director/Manager as Planning Manager, you will be responsible for the planning function in the project, working with stakeholders to resource, manage and assure projects/ programmes. You will ensure visibility and alignment of programmes with business plans and Performance Commitments throughout.
Applicants with Aviation experience are preferred.
The role involves a scope verification phase for survey and design assurance followed by ECI detailed design and Construction. Tender support, procurement and construction phase planning will be required for framework tender support and NTP programme development.
Costain has been appointed on two construction frameworks to deliver London Gatwick’s Civils and building Frameworks. These cover a range of Capital projects to upgrade and modernise the airports infrastructure, support growing passenger demand and enhance resilience. The frameworks will run for a four year period, with an option to extend by a further two years. We are looking to bring our experience in delivering infrastructure solutions and working closely with London Gatwick and our supply chain partners to deliver these essential infrastructure upgrades.
The works consist of:
- Highways landside and airside civils packages including, ECI, Detailed design, intrusive surveys and construction.
- Highways widening, resurfacing and TM phasing.
- Upgrades to drainage, lighting, signage and signalling.

Work with the project/programme manager to accurate programme benefits and outcomes.
Oversee the interfacing and integration with the design and construction team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project/Programme Plan.
Use of best practice in planning and reporting.
Develop clear vision and standards and champion the use of best practice project planning standards, tools and processes.
Build strong networks both internally and externally.
Work with the senior management team to ensure the programme accurately reflects the state of the project/programme.
Review performance data, looking at trends to identify areas for improvement and collaboration, and selecting appropriate methods and tools to resolve them.
Provide quality assurance, complete peer reviews, deep dives and problem solve
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
The confidence to communicate at all levels, driving commitments and improvements to meet commercial and technical objectives and deadlines.
Appropriate training and experience with Primavera (P6\)
Experience in the interpretation of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools
High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills
Excellent MS Office skills
Desirable
Working knowledge of reporting tools including Power Bi.
Working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
Aviation experience
Relevant experience in programme delivery preferably in a highly regulated environment
