Part-Time Support Worker – Social & Community Activities
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and proactive support companion to assist our daughter, a friendly young adult with very mild learning difficulties, with social, community and independence\-based activities. Someone interested in building a long\-term, consistent and supportive working relationship.
This is a support and mentoring role focused on confidence\-building, planning activities, developing independence and encouraging social engagement. It is not a personal care role.
The successful applicant will be organised, socially confident, practical and able to take initiative while providing calm and encouraging support.
Main responsibilities
- Supporting participation in social and community activities
- Assisting with planning enjoyable and appropriate outings
- Researching local activities, events and opportunities
- Encouraging confidence, communication and independence
- Helping organise and support a fortnightly music club evening run by the young person
- Assisting with planning, organisation and practical arrangements for the music club
- Supporting travel and access within the local community, where appropriate
- This role would suit someone confident working independently and able to use initiative
- Previous experience supporting young people or adults with additional needs, learning difficulties or SEND
- Current Enhanced DBS certificate
- Good knowledge of the local and surrounding area and suitable social/community activities
- Ability to research activities, venues and opportunities independently
- Reliable, organised and proactive
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to build a respectful and positive working relationship
- Comfortable encouraging independence without being over\-directive
Desirable
Background in SEN, education, youth work, community support or similar
Interest in music, arts or community activities
Hours
Part\-time and flexible. Some evening availability may occasionally be required for music club activities, which currently run fortnightly on Thursdays
Pay: £17\.00 per hour
