Overnight waking carer in Bexley
We are looking for a warm, reliable, and patient female carer to provide visiting companionship and light care support to a 78\-year\-old gentleman in Southwark, London. The client is recovering from recent bowel surgery and would benefit from regular, consistent support from someone who can build a genuine and trusting relationship over time.
This is a visiting care role, starting at 2–3 sessions per week on alternate days, with each session lasting approximately 2–4 hours in the afternoon (arriving around 1pm). Total weekly hours will be approximately 4–12 hours initially, with the expectation that frequency and hours will increase as the care relationship develops and deepens.
The primary focus of this role is companionship and light practical assistance. The client is mobile but has a history of falls, so a calm and attentive presence is important. There is also mild cognitive decline to be aware of, so patience and gentle communication are essential.
Day\-to\-day tasks will include:
- Companionship — spending quality time with the client, engaging in conversation, and providing emotional support
- Light housekeeping — tidying, general upkeep of the home environment
- Laundry — washing, drying, and putting away clothes
- Dressing assistance — helping with trousers and socks, as the client is currently unable to bend easily following surgery
- Mobility support — being present and attentive to reduce the risk of falls
- Emotional support — providing reassurance and a friendly, familiar presence
Pay: £160\.00 per day
Work authorisation:
- United Kingdom (required)
