Operations Shift Manager (APC Overnight)
£35,000 per annum
Monday: 06:00 – 16:00
Tuesday to Friday: 05:30 – 16:00
Alternate Saturdays: 06:00 – 14:00
1\-hour unpaid lunch break
We are looking for a hands\-on Operations Shift Manager to lead our morning operation within a fast\-paced parcel and logistics environment.
The primary focus of this role is leading and developing our people. We are looking for somebody who can build relationships, communicate effectively, motivate teams, build accountability and maintain high standards across both our driver and warehouse teams.
The successful candidate will lead our APC Overnight operation each morning, ensuring routes are optimised, parcels are processed efficiently and service levels are consistently achieved. They will also provide operational support to our Pall\-Ex operation when required.
Success in this role depends as much on your ability to lead people as it does your ability to manage an operation. We are looking for somebody who understands that high\-performing operations are built on strong leadership, clear communication and engaged teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership \& Team Management
- Lead, motivate and develop drivers and warehouse operatives
- Conduct daily operational briefings and communicate priorities clearly
- Create a positive, professional and accountable working environment
- Coach and support team members to improve performance and development
- Manage performance issues professionally and consistently
- Lead by example and maintain high standards of behaviour, professionalism and customer service
- Review and adjust delivery and collection routes to maximise efficiency
- Oversee unloading, parcel sortation and vehicle loading activities
- Support drivers throughout the day and resolve operational issues
- Monitor service performance, productivity and operational KPIs
- Work closely with customer service teams, partner depots and the wider management team
- Support the Pall\-Ex operation and fulfilment centre when operational priorities allow
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Confident managing people and performance
- Comfortable having difficult conversations when required whilst maintaining positive working relationships
- Calm under pressure and highly organised
- Practical, hands\-on approach
- Full UK driving licence essential
- Parcel, pallet, transport or logistics operations
- Previous supervisory or management experience
- Forklift Truck experience
- Good IT skills
