Healthcare Assistant - East Kent
Join Marie Curie as a Healthcare Assistant in East Kent and make a real difference to people living with a terminal illness in their own homes. This is a rewarding community\-based role where you will deliver compassionate, person\-centred care at night and help patients and families feel supported, safe and dignified when it matters most.
Working as part of our multidisciplinary community team, you will provide high\-quality care tailored to each person’s needs. This includes personal care, skin care and hygiene, support with nutrition and hydration, comfort and sleep, mobility, and helping to maintain a safe and respectful care environment in line with individual care plans.
You will build trusted relationships with patients and those important to them, working with sensitivity, professionalism and compassion. This is an opportunity to use your care experience in a role where every shift has meaningful impact.
Contract: Permanent
Schedule: 27 hours per week, distributed over three shifts; Monday to Saturday
Shift hours: 10:00pm – 7:00am
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale, Band 2 (AFC\-aligned): £12\.92 per hour, plus a generous 41% uplift as a night shift enhancement.
Location: Community\-Based – Canterbury
What we are looking for
- Experience providing hands\-on care in a health or social care setting, ideally including end\-of\-life or community\-based care.
- A compassionate, person\-centred approach and the ability to support patients and families with dignity and empathy.
- Confidence working independently during night shifts while also contributing positively to a wider multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication skills, emotional resilience, and a calm, professional approach in sensitive situations.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable, but not essential.
- A valid driving license and access to a car are essential, as you will travel to patients’ homes across the community.
