Lead the operational delivery of a growing domestic installations department.

Gregor Heating is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the day\-to\-day delivery of our domestic installation work across heating, renewables and associated services. This is a hands\-on SME leadership role for someone who understands field operations, engineer productivity, customer expectations, safe working and commercial control.

Our Domestic Installations team delivers heating, renewable and associated installation work for homeowners and small private clients. We are going for controlled growth, and this role is about making sure the department can grow without losing quality, customer service, safety, margin or the practical values that matter in a long\-established local business.

You will work closely with the Directors, technical colleagues and administration teams, but will be trusted to bring structure, pace and ownership to operational delivery. This is a role where you will be close to the work, the engineers, the customers and the decisions.

We work to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, so we are looking for someone who understands the importance of safe sites, quality workmanship, environmental responsibility and accurate records.

You will be a good fit if you enjoy working in a practical SME environment where people know each other, decisions can be made quickly, and improvement comes from common sense as well as clear process.

What you will be responsible for


  • Owning the installation diary, engineer allocation and forward capacity planning.

  • Managing Heating Engineers, Electricians, renewable engineers, subcontractors and supporting operational resources.

  • Ensuring jobs are fully ready before installation, including materials, technical information, access, customer requirements and documentation.

  • Keeping installations on time, within agreed scope and to the required quality, safety, environmental and compliance standards.

  • Reviewing completed jobs against quoted labour, actual labour, material use, duration, customer issues and profitability.

  • Reducing avoidable delays, cancellations, revisits, remedial work and operational bottlenecks.

  • Working closely with sales, surveying, administration and technical teams so operations supports customer conversion and delivery.

  • Maintaining a clear operational scoreboard covering productivity, lead times, gross margin, customer feedback, quality and capacity.

  • Delivering and supporting toolbox talks, safety briefings and operational updates with engineers and subcontractors.

  • Acting quickly on accidents, near misses, complaints, quality concerns and recurring site issues so lessons are learned and improvements are embedded.

What we are looking for

This role would suit someone who has already managed operational delivery in a field\-based environment and now wants a role with real ownership, visibility and influence.

  • Experience managing installation, engineering, construction or field\-based operational teams.

  • Strong knowledge of domestic heating installations, with wider exposure to renewables, electrical work or building services beneficial.

  • Confidence planning labour, scheduling work, managing capacity and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

  • A practical understanding of quality, compliance, Health \& Safety, environmental responsibility and customer expectations.

  • Commercial awareness, including understanding how planning, productivity, rework and job control affect profitability.

  • Confidence leading people, setting standards and holding others accountable.

  • Strong IT skills and confidence using job management systems, reporting and performance data.

Useful qualifications


  • Gas Safe, heating, renewable or electrical qualifications would be advantageous.

  • IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH or similar Health \& Safety training would be beneficial.

  • Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
