Multi Skilled Engineer

The role

We're looking for a skilled, self\-motivated Mechanical / Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. You'll keep our production machinery running reliably — carrying out planned maintenance, fixing breakdowns fast, and helping us continuously improve our plant and equipment.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out planned preventive maintenance on filling lines, mixing plant, pumps, conveyors, compressors, HVAC and other production equipment


• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults quickly to minimise downtime


• Supporting basic electrical fault\-finding and repairs where competent and authorised


• Working safely under permit\-to\-work procedures, with RAMS in place for higher\-risk tasks


• Coordinating with production supervisors to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption


• Helping install, commission and modify new equipment and lines


• Spotting opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency and product quality


• Managing workshop tools, spares and parts stock


• Following our environmental, health and safety policies, including safe handling of solvents and hazardous substances (COSHH)


• Covering for colleagues in the engineering team as needed

• A recognised engineering qualification — City \& Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or similar


• Experience as a Maintenance Engineer in a process manufacturing environment (chemicals, coatings, solvents or similar)


• Strong mechanical aptitude, with hands\-on fault\-finding and repair experience on industrial machinery, pipework, pumps and conveyors


• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems


• Confidence reading engineering drawings, schematics and technical manuals


• A methodical, problem\-solving approach to diagnosing faults


• Good understanding of health and safety legislation — permit\-to\-work, COSHH, lone working


• The ability to work independently and prioritise under pressure


• Good communication skills, comfortable liaising with production and technical teams

• 18th Edition electrical qualification (or equivalent), with basic electrical fault\-finding experience


• Experience in a chemical, paint, adhesive or solvent manufacturing environment


• Basic welding and fabrication skills (MIG/TIG)


• Forklift licence (counterbalance or reach)


• Knowledge of ATEX/hazardous area requirements
