Multi Skilled Engineer
Saxon Foods is a well\-established food manufacturing business producing plant\-based convenience foods for retailers, wholesalers, food manufacturers and foodservice customers across the UK and overseas. As the business continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Multiskilled Engineer (with electrical bias) to support our afternoon production shift, assist with PPM completion, respond to equipment breakdowns and complete project work as directed across the company sites.
We are looking for a Multiskilled Engineer (with electrical bias) to work across both company sites, our existing site at 5a Atkinsons Way, and at our new site only a short walk away, Roxburgh House.
Shift Pattern:
2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday (fixed shift)
37\.5 hours a week (1 hour break per shift, 30 minutes of which is paid)
Key Responsibilities:
· To take responsibility for all site equipment for the production shift reverting to your Engineering Manager where necessary.
· To attend breakdowns and carry out planned maintenance work as directed by your Engineering Manager.
· Monitor, measure and report on equipment issues during your shift.
· Monitor equipment spares and stocks, ensuring consumed parts are flagged for replacement.
· Receive and monitor contractors on site, ensuring they are working to the site rules and expected standards.
· Ensure all equipment safety features are running effectively and where an issue arises units are isolated until a repair can be made.
· To work closely with other members of the team to ensure engineering handovers are effective communications tools.
· Action maintenance jobs for the site to keep the business audit ready and the site in a good state of repair.
· Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
· All employees are responsible for ensuring company resources are used in an effective manner to ensure best operating costs.
· Maintaining high level of timekeeping is of the essence.
· In the absence of the EM, liaise with Production Managers and Supervisors to understand needs of the shift.
Required Qualifications / Skills:
· Technical hands\-on engineering experience, preferably through recognized time served apprenticeship within food manufacturing.
· Technical qualifications and competence in mechanical/electrical at a minimum NVQ Level 3
· BTEC Engineering certificate or equivalent qualification
· Broad knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, electrical and PLC/inverter assets.
· Confident in use of Excel, Word etc.

Pay: £36,000\.00\-£40,000\.00 per year
