About the role
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our Maintenance team. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and Technicians, you will carry out routine and reactive maintenance to keep our machinery and equipment running safely and efficiently, staying vigilant for any malfunctions or anomalies so they can be resolved quickly. In everything you do, you'll be expected to follow health and safety rules, security procedures, environmental standards, and production requirements (quality, cost, deadlines). This is a hands\-on, physically demanding role involving manual handling, and you may be asked to work flexibly across different production departments.

Key responsibilities

Receiving and planning work

  • Receive work instructions and daily task priorities from the Maintenance Manager

  • Check outstanding jobs, required spares and task priorities at the start of each shift

  • Report back on progress and any delays
Routine and preventive maintenance
  • Carry out scheduled checks on machinery, parts and production equipment

  • Oil, clean and carry out general upkeep of machinery and parts

  • Complete preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulics, conveyors and production machines, following manufacturer's instructions

  • Check and calibrate instruments, reporting any faults found
Reactive/breakdown maintenance
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns

  • Diagnose faults by observation, listening, and using precision measuring/testing instruments

  • Remove defective parts and fit new ones using hand and power tools

  • Carry out quality inspections on completed repairs
Housekeeping and safety
  • Maintain a safe, clean working environment in line with procedures and regulations

  • Ensure removed materials and defective parts go to the correct waste locations
PROFILE REQUIRED

What we're looking for

  • Previous experience as a maintenance engineer/technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment (foundry experience is a plus but not essential)

  • Solid working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems

  • Confident using hand and power tools and precision testing/measuring instruments

  • Good diagnostic skills and a methodical approach to fault\-finding

  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks

  • Safety\-conscious, reliable

  • Flexible and willing to work across different production areas

  • Open to ongoing training and skills development

  • Good communication skills; works well in a team and independently.
Job Types: Full\-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to £16\.72 per hour
