Salary: £19,300\-£23,400
Working Hours: 8:00\- 16:30 Monday – Friday.

Chances Mentoring is a registered independent specialist school that focuses on providing therapeutic education and mentoring to children with various learning needs, especially those with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and behavioural issues. Our primary goal is to offer a holistic and empowering experience that goes beyond traditional education. Our services include a variety of academic and vocational (construction and hair and Beauty) programs. We offer core subjects of Maths, English, PSHCE, ICT, Personal Development and Sports Studies all delivered as standalone subjects with qualified teachers to ensure continuous academic progress. We also deliver a cross curricular thematic curriculum which is tailored to the needs and interests of the students with subjects like Geography, History and Creative at the forefront of the students' learning. Additionally, we offer ASDAN qualifications and AQA Awards, which help our students achieve accredited qualifications and gain essential skills for post\-16 education and beyond.
We also incorporate daily physical activities, outdoor learning experiences, and community engagement to support students' mental health and enhance their ability to concentrate. Our approach includes various assessments to track and develop student progress, which are shared with both schools and families.

About the Role
A mentor in a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) setting provides tailored support to pupils with a range of social, emotional, behavioural and learning needs. The role involves working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral and therapeutic team to create a safe, structured and nurturing environment where pupils can engage positively in education.
The role requires patience, resilience, empathy and strong communication skills. Staff are expected to maintain clear professional boundaries, follow safeguarding and behaviour procedures, record and communicate concerns appropriately, and contribute to a consistent whole\-school approach. They may also support personal care, transitions, enrichment activities and reintegration into learning where required.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide Individual and Group Support Support teaching and learning Classroom Management Assist with Assessment and Monitoring Prepare Learning Resources Support Pupils' Well\-being Safeguarding and Welfare
Work with individual pupils or small groups who need additional assistance.
Assist the teacher in planning and preparing learning activities.
Help maintain a positive and orderly classroom environment.
Observe and record pupil progress.
Set up classroom materials and equipment.
Promote pupils' emotional, social, and physical well\-being.
Follow safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety policies
Help students identify strengths, challenges, and goals.
Support pupils during lessons to help them understand tasks and instructions.
Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour.
Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and engagement.
Prepare teaching aids, displays, and learning resources.
Provide pastoral support where appropriate. Report any concerns regarding a pupil's welfare.
Build confidence, motivation, and self\-esteem.
Reinforce learning objectives through individual and small\-group work.
Encourage positive relationships and respect among pupils.
Support assessment activities and maintain accurate records.
Organise and maintain classroom resources.
Encourage positive self\-esteem and resilience.
Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
Support learners with different abilities, including those with special educational needs
(SEN).
Help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.
