HR & Payroll Advisor

MAIN ACTIVITIES
1\. Supporting line managers in all matters relating to HR, e.g. terms and conditions, absence, probationary periods, maternity, paternity, and flexible working etc, assisting with queries and ensuring all relevant paperwork is produced.
2\. Leading management of casework, including sickness absence, grievance and disciplinary, making recommendations, giving support and advice to managers.
3\. Create and maintain all employee personnel files, ensuring archiving of leavers and cleansing of information held in line with GDPR.
4\. Maintain computerised and manual Recruitment, Payroll, Time \& Attendance, and HR information systems, ensuring accurate recording of recruitment, employment, personal, staffing establishment, payroll information, and processed in line with GDPR requirements.
5\. To provide general administration and efficient support service as required e.g. completing ad hoc human resources statistical data/reports, typing letters/contracts, conducting pre\-employment checks, responding to external reference requests, whilst communicating effectively and professionally ensuring confidentiality of all written and verbal communication, and that all appropriate policies, procedures and legal requirements are adhered to with a clear audit trail and in line with GDPR.
6\. Act as lead in the processing of payroll data, managing the necessary calculations – tax, NI, statutory payments etc, cross checking information from employees/managers for payroll in line with payroll deadlines, liaising with Company Accountant for reconciliation purposes, generating and submitting payroll data/reports to the approved external payroll body for processing, and handling queries, providing appropriate resolution whilst ensuring adherence to all relevant payroll policies and procedures, as well as payroll based legislation.
7\. Work with line managers to establish recruitment requirements, manage and participate in the full cycle of recruitment, from developing job descriptions, person specifications, advising and appropriate selection methods, and participating in interviews and feeding back to applicants as required.
8\. Manage the full cycle of recruitment, from supporting managers in developing job descriptions that are on brand and EDI compliant, person specifications, advising on appropriate selection and assessment methods, and participating in interviews as required. Along with creating and uploading of adverts to the relevant job platforms, sourcing high calibre candidates, ensuring Headcount has been approved prior to recruitment/appointment.
9\. Act as key contact for applicants, managers and recruitment partners throughout the recruitment process.
10\. Ensure that offer paperwork and pre\-employment checks are conducted accurately, ensuring all appropriate policies, procedures and legal requirements are adhered to, with clear audit trails and in line with data protection act, informing Payroll accordingly to ensure accurate and timely payment to Staff.
11\. Ensure the company has first day/week new staff induction process. Update content of induction as necessary.
12\. Support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of attendance, performance and retention etc. Provide appropriate recommendations to line managers to tackle any issues observed.
13\. Ensure performance reviews are carried out in line with policy and process.
14\. Champion and support managers with the performance process to ensure a culture of high performance.
15\. Review and update Employee Handbook and associated new employee information ensuring compliance with best practice and legislation.
16\. Ensuring all terms and conditions of service are properly implemented, highlighting any areas of noncompliance/requiring improvement to the relevant manager, and advising of appropriate means of resolution.
17\. Conduct internal surveys to gather employee feedback and identify areas of improvement to improve employee engagement.
18\. Assist HR colleagues with facilitating monthly employee focus groups.
19\. Managing staff relationships, responding to any queries or problems that arise and managing employee expectations.
20\. Act as support for managers during investigation process, including grievance and disciplinary, ensuring adherence to process and good practice.
21\. Act as key point of contact, providing support and guidance on the company’s mentor scheme.
22\. Support and advise managers throughout the employee appraisal process.
23\. Assist with designing, implementing and embedding of new company policies and procedures. Providing advice and playing a major role in work reviews and change process.
24\. Production and analysis of all monthly HR/Payroll related statistics, and ad hoc reports as and when required. Identifying areas of improvement and working with HR Manager to develop/implement action plans to bring about resolution/improvement.
25\. Assisting management when dealing with any queries from ACAS or other third party in relation to potential employee claims.
26\. Production of a weekly report for areas of responsibility.
27\. Assist HR Manager in driving business performance in relation to the organisation’s objectives.
28\. Assisting in organising employer branding initiatives.
29\. Interpret and research employment law and best practice to ensure advice and guidance is both accurate and up to date. Ensure management are appropriately updated on new employment legislation.
30\. Participating in training activities, encouraging and supporting staff in their training and development.
31\. Promote diversity and inclusion across initiatives across the business in line with company objectives.
32\. Comply with the company’s policies and procedures as set out within the Employee Handbook, Accreditations Manual (including Best Practice Quality Guide) and the Health and Safety Manual, as updated from time to time.
33\. Comply with the requirements for the role as set out within the company’s Integrated Management System (currently comprising of the Quality Management System, Environmental Management System and the Health and Safety Management System), as updated from time to time.
34\. Comply with the requirements of any Core Duties or other relevant procedural or policy document applicable to your role.
35\. The post holder must also undertake other duties within his/her competence or otherwise appropriate to the grading of the post as required.

Knowledge, Skills \& Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred) or sound knowledge and experience of working in a progressive HR experience, with a focus on leadership and strategic HR management.
- Proven track record of successfully implementing HR initiatives that drive employee engagement, talent development, and organisational growth.
- Strong knowledge of applicable employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- CIPP Qualification.
- Payroll Management experience/knowledge.
Pay: £30,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
