The Vacancy
The Head of Sales – Engineering Services will lead the growth of a £30M Engineering Services Business Unit within Europe’s largest supplier of industrial MRO products and services, operating across 750\+ locations in 24 countries.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this national role will lead a team of 5–20 and be accountable for driving profitable revenue growth across multiple sales channels. The position focuses on delivering strategic, high\-value opportunities across rotating equipment repair, turnkey installation and commissioning, intervention testing, and reliability services.
This is a senior leadership role requiring a balance of commercial strategy, technical expertise, and team development, ensuring the right mix of new installations vs repair work, and in\-house vs third party execution to maximise growth while managing risk and capacity.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and exceed revenue, margin, and EBITDA targets aligned to the annual business plan
- Lead, develop, and mentor the Technical Sales team, driving performance and accountability through KPIs
- Own and manage the sales pipeline via CRM, ensuring strong opportunity conversion and forecasting accuracy
- Lead major client engagements, including high level presentations, negotiations, and tender submissions for large frameworks
- Manage key strategic customer accounts and build long term, high value relationships
- Provide regular reporting on sales performance, pipeline, and activity to the Engineering Services Leadership Team
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and commercial opportunities to drive sustainable growth
- Collaborate across internal sales channels to maximise opportunities and ensure effective triage of technical sales support
- Ensure high standards in proposal development, delivering accurate, detailed, and commercially sound solutions
- Utilise management information systems (CRM, Pipeline, PowerBI) to track performance and inform decision\-making
- Proven track record in technical sales/business development within mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or industrial sectors
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to close complex deals and manage large\-scale projects
- Deep understanding of engineering services and their application within MRO environments
- Ability to influence and engage both technical and non\-technical stakeholders at a senior level
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Strategic thinker with strong problem solving and consultative sales approach
- Data driven mindset with experience using CRM systems and analysing sales performance metrics
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing and developing high\-performing teams
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast\-paced environment
- Collaborative approach with the ability to build relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholders
