Glenkindie Lodge is a 33\-bed Residential Care Home in Desborough, Northamptonshire providing care for residents who are elderly, many with dementia. We are passionate and committed towards providing high\-quality care in a 'home\-from\-home' environment.

Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail\-oriented Head of Housekeeping to lead our housekeeping service and work alongside the team delivering it. This is a pivotal role in our Home: you will set and uphold exceptional standards of cleanliness and infection control and give our residents, their families and our visitors a Home they can be proud of.
About the role:
As our Head of Housekeeping, you will play an important and integral role within our team, so that our deserving residents live in an immaculate home with the highest standards of hygiene and infection control. The responsibilities include (not limited to):
- Leading, motivating and supervising the housekeeping team to deliver high\-quality cleaning consistently, and working alongside them daily to keep the Home immaculately clean and tidy;
- Reporting to the Registered Manager;
- Allocating the day's cleaning work across the Home so that every area is covered to our Cleaning Programme;
- Developing and maintaining our cleaning schedules, protocols and standards in line with health and safety and infection control requirements;
- Conducting regular inspections of the Home to ensure our standards are met, identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive feedback to the team;
- Inducting new housekeepers and training the team in correct cleaning techniques, safety procedures and the proper use of equipment;
- Carrying out regular supervisions with the housekeeping team, offering support, feedback and encouragement;
- Assisting the Manager to develop and maintain very good hygiene practices within the Care Home;
- Maintaining all necessary Infection Control trackers, cleaning records and audits, and keeping them up to date and ready for inspection;
- Ensuring the safe use and storage of chemicals in line with COSHH;
- Monitoring stock levels of cleaning products, equipment and consumables, submitting orders in good time and checking deliveries in;
- Working with the care team to plan cleaning around the daily life of the Home and the needs of our residents;
- Reporting maintenance issues promptly and following them through;
- Being flexible with your working hours and covering cleaning shifts when and where required to do so;
- Enthusiastic and detail\-oriented person fully appreciating the value of the role in maintaining a clean environment with high standards of hygiene practices and infection control;
- Proven experience in care home, hospital, hospitality or commercial housekeeping experience in a healthcare environment is highly desirable;
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, train and develop a team, and happy to work hands\-on alongside them;
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation standards relevant to a care setting; understanding of CQC regulations and COSHH is preferable;
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and to keep records, trackers and stock in good order;
- Good communication skills, written and verbal, to liaise with management, the team, residents and their families;
- Basic IT skills for records and ordering;
- Experience and willingness to carry out training;
- Team player
