Group Health and Safety Manager.
Job Summary
The group Health and Safety Manager Is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective Health and safety policies, procedures and systems to ensure a safe working environment across our 3 manufacturing sites. This role will ensure full compliance with all current UK Legislation driving consistency in safety standards and fostering a strong, proactive safety culture across the 3 sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance and leadership
- Develop, implement and continuously improve health and safety policies procedures and Strategy across the 3 sites.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local, National and industry specific health and safety regulations.
- Provide guidance and support to site\-based Management teams.
- Maintain up\-to\-date knowledge of legislation and best practice.
- Lead internal and external audits, Inspections and certification.
- Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation such as HASWA, COSHH, RIDDOR and PUWER.
- Maintain robust documentation and ensure policies are regularly reviewed and updated.
- Risk Management.
- Conduct risk assessment, Hazard identification and implement control measures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses producing detailed reports and corrective actions to local Management teams.
- Monitor individual site safety performance metrics and KPIs.
- Ensure third party contractors comply with company safety standards and legal requirements.
- Training and company culture.
- Design and develop health and safety training programs for employees at all levels.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the group encouraging employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Support and guide Site Managers and Supervision in enforcement of safe working practices.
- Emergency planning
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Lead emergency drills and ensure readiness
- Act as primary contact for safety related emergencies.
- You must have a strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation within manufacturing.
- You will need strong communication skills and the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
- Preferably qualifications in Occupational health and safety to degree level or equivalent in Engineering or related field.
- You must have NEBOSH diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role withing an Engineering manufacturing environment.
This is a multi\-site role based 3 days per week in our two sites in Altrincham and 2 days per week in our Skelmersdale site.
Our manufacturing consists of Foundry casting and machining environments.
You must have a full UK Driving licence to travel between sites.
Hours of work Monday to Thursday 8\.00am to 4\.30pm and Friday8\.00am to 1\.00pm.
25 days holiday plus statutory bank holidays.
