Location: Iver, Buckinghamshire
Department: Supply Chain / Stores
Reporting to: Stores Manager/ Supply Chain Manager
Positions Available: 2
Shifts: Afternoon \& Night Shift
Contract: Full\-time

Panificio Italiano is an independent bakery based in Iver, Buckinghamshire. We operate from a state\-of\-the\-art, purpose\-built automated bakery, producing a wide range of high\-quality bakery products, from traditional recipes to new and speciality breads.

As our production operation continues to grow, we are looking for experienced and reliable Forklift Drivers to join our Supply Chain team.

Job Purpose

As a Forklift Driver, you will play an important role within the Supply Chain and Stores operation, ensuring that raw materials, packaging, finished products and other goods are safely received, stored, moved and prepared for dispatch.

You will be responsible for while also supporting the wider warehouse and distribution operation.

The role requires a strong focus on health and safety, accuracy, hygiene and teamwork within a fast\-paced food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities \& Duties

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operating

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles using forklift equipment and, where required, manual handling.

  • Safely stacking and unstacking goods, materials and finished products onto pallets and racking.

  • Moving stock safely between storage, production and loading areas.

  • Preparing and organising goods for dispatch and delivery.

  • Consolidating pallets when required.

  • Checking deliveries for damaged, missing or incorrect items.

  • Sorting and storing stock in the appropriate warehouse locations.

  • Ensuring stock is correctly identified and easily located.

  • Recording and maintaining accurate stock information using the Warehouse Management System.

  • Organising internal transfers and loading goods onto delivery vehicles.

  • Ensuring forklift operating areas are kept clean, safe and free from spills, obstructions and hazards.

  • Carrying out daily forklift safety checks and reporting any faults, damage or maintenance requirements immediately.

  • Following all forklift operating procedures and site traffic management rules.

  • Working safely and in accordance with company Health \& Safety policies.

  • Following all food hygiene and site hygiene requirements.

  • Working within a controlled\-temperature environment where required.

  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse and stores areas.

  • Cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and equipment as part of the daily routine.

  • Supporting other Supply Chain and Stores activities as required.

  • Working effectively as part of a team to ensure customer orders and production requirements are met.
Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience working as a Forklift Driver in a warehouse, manufacturing, logistics or similar environment.

  • Good understanding of forklift safety and warehouse procedures.

  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent coordination and spatial awareness.

  • Ability to work safely in a fast\-paced environment.

  • Ability to follow instructions and company procedures.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Basic computer skills and ability to use warehouse systems.

  • Strong work ethic and reliable approach to work.

  • Ability to undertake manual handling and physical duties.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
Desirable
  • Experience within the food manufacturing or bakery industry.

  • Experience using a Warehouse Management System.

  • Experience working in a temperature\-controlled warehouse environment.

  • Knowledge of stock control and warehouse processes.
Physical Requirements

This is an active warehouse\-based role and will involve regular movement, manual handling, lifting and hauling.

Although much of the operation is automated, you will still be required to undertake physical warehouse duties when necessary.

Candidates should be comfortable working on their feet for extended periods and carrying out manual handling activities safely.

Working Environment

The role is based within a modern, automated bakery and warehouse environment.

Depending on the area of the site, working conditions may include controlled or cooler temperatures, as well as areas that can be warm or dusty.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and protective clothing must be worn at all times in designated areas. This includes suitable safety footwear and any other PPE required by the Company.

Working Hours

The role operates , with shift patterns depending on business requirements.

Employees may be required to work approximately , and shift times may vary.

Flexibility is therefore essential.

Training

Full site\-specific training and induction will be provided.

All employees will be expected to complete the Company's required Health \& Safety, Food Safety, Hygiene and operational training.

Health \& Safety

All employees are responsible for working safely and following Company policies and procedures.

The Forklift Driver must:

  • Operate equipment safely and responsibly.

  • Complete required pre\-use checks.

  • Report hazards, accidents, near misses, damage and equipment faults immediately.

  • Follow designated pedestrian and forklift routes.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

  • Follow all food safety, hygiene and PPE requirements.
