We are now looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems across our Rotherham manufacturing site.
About the Role
This is a hands‑on role critical to production continuity, electrical safety and compliance. You will work within a live manufacturing environment, combining planned preventative maintenance, responsive fault‑finding and continuous improvement activity to minimise downtime and ensure electrical integrity across plant and machinery.
What you will do
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and production equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on machinery, plant and control systems
- Maintain and troubleshoot motors, drives, sensors, control panels and electrical distribution systems
- Support and maintain PLC‑controlled and automated equipment
- Respond promptly to breakdowns to minimise production disruption
- Inspect and test electrical installations in line with BS 7671 (18th Edition)
- Assist with installation, commissioning and upgrades of electrical systems and machinery
- Ensure compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and site safety procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs and compliance documentation
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and safety
- Work closely with production, engineering and maintenance teams to resolve technical issues
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers where required
- Provide basic IT support on production equipment when needed
- Support product development and engineering activity, including reviewing wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Electrical reliability of manufacturing operations with minimal unplanned downtime
- Full regulatory and safety compliance across all electrical systems and work activities
- Effective resolution of electrical faults, preventing repeat issues
- Continuous improvement in asset reliability, efficiency and maintainability
- Acting as a trusted technical expert and advisor within the business
You’ll be an experienced Electrical Engineer with a background in industrial or manufacturing environments, comfortable working in a live production setting where safety and uptime are critical.
Essential
- Electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or equivalent)
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic capability
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671\)
- Strong safety awareness and knowledge of statutory regulations
- Flexible approach to working hours (including out‑of‑hours when required)
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
- PLC diagnostics and basic programming experience
- Inspection \& Testing qualification (e.g. City \& Guilds 2391\)
- Experience with automation, drives and control systems
- Familiarity with CAD or electrical design software
