We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Duty Manager to oversee operations at Holmes Mill Café. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth daily functioning, maintaining high standards of service, and leading the team to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the café, ensuring efficient service delivery.

  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

  • Manage the team of staff, including serving personnel, kitchen staff, and baristas, providing guidance and support.

  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards across all areas of operation.

  • Assist with food production and kitchen operations as required, supporting the culinary team.

  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies to ensure smooth operations.

  • Handle customer enquiries, resolve complaints promptly, and ensure a welcoming atmosphere.

  • Lead by example in delivering excellent hospitality and service standards.

  • Organise staff rotas and manage shift schedules to optimise staffing levels.

  • Maintain health and safety protocols throughout the café environment.
Experience
  • Proven supervisory experience within a hospitality setting, ideally in a café or restaurant environment.

  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices.

  • Experience in managing teams, with excellent leadership and organisational skills.

  • Knowledge of restaurant operations, including serving, barista duties, and general hospitality procedures.

  • Familiarity with kitchen operations, food production processes, and hotel or bar experience is advantageous.

  • Previous experience in supervising food safety standards and ensuring compliance with health regulations.

  • Ability to lead a team effectively while maintaining a positive working environment.
