Cleaning & Operations Supervisor
AEG Cleaning Services is looking for an experienced Cleaning \& Operations Supervisor to take responsibility for the day\-to\-day running of our cleaning operation.
We are a growing, family\-run cleaning business working across London, with a strong focus on Airbnb and serviced accommodation, end\-of\-tenancy cleaning, domestic cleaning and commercial work.
This is a hands\-on position, but we are not looking for an experienced cleaner who has never managed people. We need someone who has successfully supervised a cleaning or housekeeping team, can make sensible decisions independently and knows what an excellent cleaning standard looks like.
The right person will gradually take responsibility for day\-to\-day operations away from the Managing Director and help us build and develop the team as the business grows.
Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for allocating work, supervising cleaners, maintaining standards and making sure jobs are completed properly and on time. Your responsibilities will include:
- Working alongside the cleaning team when required
- Inspecting completed work and carrying out quality checks
- Training and developing cleaners
- Managing staff absence and arranging cover
- Identifying and addressing poor performance
- Ensuring AEG procedures and checklists are followed
- Ensuring required before\-and\-after photographs/videos are completed
- Managing cleaning products, equipment, stock and linen requirements
- Supervising larger end\-of\-tenancy and deep\-cleaning jobs
- Helping recruit, assess and train new cleaners
- Dealing with straightforward client and property issues
- Reporting maintenance and property problems
- Improving how jobs are organised and completed
- Making day\-to\-day operational decisions without needing constant management approval
Previous cleaning or housekeeping management experience is essential.
We’re particularly interested in candidates from hotels, serviced apartments, premium residential housekeeping, facilities management or professional contract cleaning.
You should have experience of supervising staff, allocating workloads, inspecting completed work, training cleaners, dealing with absence and performance issues, and managing stock and equipment.
Attention to detail is extremely important. We want someone who notices the fingerprint on the mirror, dust on the skirting, hair behind the toilet or a badly presented bed before the client does.
You must be dependable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility. When something goes wrong, we expect you to assess the situation, make a sensible decision and take ownership of resolving it.
You must also be willing to work alongside the team. Nobody at AEG is above getting their hands dirty when the operation needs it.
Hours and salary
This is a permanent, full\-time position working 40 hours per week.
Salary: £28,000 per year.
The role involves travelling between client locations, primarily across East and Central London. Our work operates seven days a week, so some weekend work will form part of the rota.
Salary and responsibilities will be formally reviewed after six months based on performance, responsibilities taken on and development of the business.
Recruitment process
Shortlisted candidates should expect an initial telephone interview, face\-to\-face interview, practical cleaning/quality assessment, and employment and reference checks.
Management experience matters, but anyone responsible for AEG’s cleaning standards must also be capable of recognising excellent and poor cleaning themselves.
