We are currently recruiting for a Class 1 Truncker Driver to join our Transport Team in Birmingham. You will be responsible for delivering goods between our branches to enable us to supply our fellow customers with available products and an excellent service.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out deliveries and collections between our UK branches in a safe and timely manner
- Supervise the safe loading and unloading of goods from the vehicle
- Ensure all loads are accurate and in line with customer orders
- Quality check goods with customers upon delivery and obtain signatures/printed confirmation
- Flag and report any errors or discrepancies to the Regional Transport Manager or Sales Team
- Maintain compliance with tachograph legislation and all relevant safety regulations
- Ensure the HGV is kept clean and prevent avoidable damage to the vehicle
- Report any accidents immediately in line with the company accident reporting procedure
- Complete daily vehicle inspection sheets and submit them to the Regional Transport Manager
- Proactively manage the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT requirements
- Provide support within the warehouse as required
- Carry out any other duties reasonably required within the role

- Load at Redditch (B98 0FY)
- Unload at St Albans (AL4 0JJ)
- Return to starting point (Birmingham)
- Valid Class C commercial driving licence with a clean driving record
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Strong knowledge of the Highway Code, road safety regulations and best driving practices
- Excellent driving skills and road etiquette, including parking, safety awareness and speed management
- Good UK geographical knowledge and the ability to adapt to diversions and changing routes
- Ability to lift heavy items and carry out physical tasks associated with loading and unloading goods
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills with a reliable and professional approach
- Good interpersonal skills, particularly when dealing with customers and colleagues
- Awareness of the importance of personal health and wellbeing, particularly during lone working
- Manual and physical dexterity
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
