Role Introduction
We are seeking an ambitious, detail\-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our established commercial team. Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will assist in financial management, package procurement, interim valuations, and cost control across high\-value specialist brickwork and architectural masonry contracts. This role offers excellent hands\-on exposure to major construction schemes and provides a structured environment for career development within specialist sub\-contracting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the financial control and commercial management of live brickwork, blockwork, and architectural masonry packages.
- Perform accurate drawing take\-offs, schedule brick/stone quantities, and measure materials from architectural drawings and structural layouts.
- Assemble sub\-contractor enquiry packages, analyze returned quotations, and assist with trade order placements.
- Track site variations, scope changes, and daywork sheets, maintaining accurate cost logs and variation registers.
- Support monthly progress valuations, interim payment applications, and client cost reporting.
- Process sub\-contractor payment applications, invoice verifications, and interim payment notices.
- Collaborate closely with site management, project engineers, and main contractor commercial leads to align site progress with commercial records.
- Qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management (Degree, HND, or ONC).
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within brickwork sub\-contracting, facade packages, or general main contracting.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, structural layouts, and technical specifications.
- Strong numerical skills with proficiency in MS Excel and construction cost management software.
- Excellent communication, organization, and negotiation skills with high attention to detail.
- Full UK driving licence.
