Assistant Project Manager
Job Summary
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a highly organised and proactive Assistant Project Manager to support our project teams in delivering defence engineering projects.
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful delivery of Jered UK MST's projects by assisting in the planning, coordination, monitoring, and administration of project activities across the business. As part of the Programmes Delivery team, the position requires working closely with Project Managers, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Finance, and Support functions, the APM helps ensure projects are delivered safely on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
The role provides project management support throughout the project lifecycle, from initiation through to delivery and close\-out. The role may also require occasional overseas travel in support of international contracts.
Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain project schedules, action trackers, risk registers, meeting minutes, and project documentation.
- Assist in monitoring project progress against agreed milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
- Support the capture, review, and maintenance of customer and contractual requirements, including hardware and software deliverables.
- Assist in maintaining progress against Contract Work Breakdown Structures (CWBS).
- Support the preparation of internal and external project reports, dashboards, forecasts, and performance metrics.
- Work with Project Managers, Programs Controller, Planners and key suppliers to collect and analyse project performance data relating to quality, schedule, cost, risk, and resource utilisation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, post project reviews, lessons learned activities, and the development of project management processes and tools.
- Provide support to the Programmes Director, Project Managers, and Bid \& Proposals team in relation to business growth opportunities and bid activities.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Working towards, or willing to pursue, a recognised project management qualification (e.g. APM PFQ, APM PMQ0\.)
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with a flexible approach
- Experience within regulated industries such as Defence, Civil Nuclear, Aerospace, Marine, or Manufacturing.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and project lifecycle management.
- Experience supporting project schedules, budgets, risk management activities, and reporting processes.
- Familiarity with contract management and change control processes.
- Experience using project management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
