Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor
About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Assistant M\&E Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a degree educated Assistant Quantity Surveyor with 2\-3 years’ experience within the Mechanical \& Electrical (M\&E) construction sector.
Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers and operational teams, you will be working across the full commercial lifecycle of M\&E projects, from tender and procurement through to valuations, cost control and final accounts.
The successful candidate will receive structured support and development, with the aim of building a long\-term career within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of M\&E projects from pre\-construction through to completion.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets and forecasts.
- Measurement and valuation of mechanical and electrical works.
- Prepare and review subcontractor packages and enquiries.
- Assist with subcontractor procurement and commercial negotiations.
- Monitor project costs, expenditure and budgets.
- Monthly valuations, applications for payment and payment notices.
- Assessment and management of variations and change.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly commercial reports.
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost savings.
- Assist with subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, site teams and subcontractors.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Understanding M\&E construction contracts and commercial procedures.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Degree educated in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline with 2\-3 years’ experience within the M\&E sector
- Interested in developing a career specifically within M\&E Quantity Surveying.
- Commercially aware with a strong interest in construction and building services.
- Numerate and analytical, with good attention to detail.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Organised and able to manage deadlines effectively.
- A good communicator who can build relationships with colleagues, clients and subcontractors.
- Proactive and enthusiastic
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Willing to travel to project sites across London when required.
- £40,000 – £45,000 salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Exposure to major M\&E construction projects across London.
- Mentoring from experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers.
- Clear progression towards Quantity Surveyor position.
