Yard Manager

Aim of Job

To effectively manage and motivate the Yard Operatives to support the successful loading and unloading of customer and supplier vehicles. To supervise stock control and ensure that good housekeeping standards are maintained, while fully adhering to company policies and all relevant health and safety legislation.

To provide ad hoc support to the branch as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, motivation and leadership to the Yard Operatives.


• Work closely with the Branch Manager to ensure that business and branch objectives are achieved.


• Champion and ensure staff compliance with the company’s health and safety initiatives and all relevant health and safety legislation.


• Ensure that goods received into the branch are correct and oversee their storage in the appropriate locations.


• Load vehicles with the correct goods safely and efficiently.


• Ensure the yard and stock are kept clean, tidy and well organised.


• Check and sign for deliveries, ensuring that any breakages are reported.


• Assist with branch stock counts as required.


• Check loads to ensure order accuracy before dispatch.


• Liaise with the branch regarding stock levels of yard consumables, such as pallet wrap and strapping, and ensure adequate supplies are maintained.


• Carry out deliveries using company vehicles when required, subject to holding the appropriate driving licence.


• Undertake any other reasonable duties within the individual’s capabilities.


• Strictly adhere to the company’s health and safety initiatives, all relevant health and safety legislation, and established company procedures.

Saturday \- 06:30am \- 11:00am (Alternate Weekends)

Sunday \- Closed

Job Type: Full\-time

Pay: £32,000\.00 per year
