Transport & Distribution Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Transport \& Distribution Manager to lead our transport and distribution functions, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and growth.

Main Duties \& Responsibilities

• Planning, directing, and coordinating the company’s transport, warehousing, and distribution operations.


• Managing budgets, resources, and staffing to achieve cost\-effective and efficient operations.


• Overseeing fleet utilisation, route planning, scheduling, and regulatory compliance in line with national and international transport laws.


• Managing distribution centre activities, including goods storage, inventory accuracy, and order fulfilment.


• Setting service standards for delivery performance, stock control, and last\-mile distribution.


• Leading and supervising transport, warehouse, and distribution teams, including recruitment, training, and performance management.


• Developing and implementing policies and systems to improve service levels, reduce costs, and maintain compliance.


• Negotiating contracts with carriers, suppliers, and service providers.


• Liaising with clients and internal departments to ensure customer satisfaction and service quality.


• Preparing operational and financial reports for senior management.

• Proven experience in transport, distribution, or logistics management within freight forwarding or a related sector.


• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to direct teams and operations.


• In\-depth knowledge of transport legislation, health \& safety requirements, and distribution practices.


• Proficiency in transport management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.


• Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and contracts.
