About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we're shaping the future of the UK's power infrastructure. As a Workforce Planning Manager within our Power Transmission \& Distribution business, you'll play a key role in ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time to deliver some of the country's most significant energy projects.

Our workforce planning team work across disciplines including Overhead Lines, Substations, Cabling and Civils. You'll lead strategic workforce planning activities, supporting both current operational delivery and future growth for our Cabling and Civils team. You'll collaborate closely with operational leaders, project teams, recruitment, training and external labour partners to ensure workforce demand is understood, forecasted and met effectively.

This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home available and can be based at either our Maxim Office near Motherwell, Our Derby Raynesway office or our Newcastle Office at Quorum.

There will be also be occasional travel to visit other offices and sites around the UK.

What you'll be doing

As Workforce Planning Manager, you will:

  • Develop and deliver strategic workforce plans to support Power T\&D projects across the UK.

  • Manage workforce demand forecasting, deployment planning and capacity management.

  • Work with operational and project teams to identify workforce requirements and develop solutions to address gaps.

  • Support workforce growth initiatives, including engagement with specialist labour supply partners and subcontractors.

  • Produce meaningful workforce reporting and management information to support business decision\-making.

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across operations, recruitment, training, procurement and HR.

  • Drive workforce mobilisation activities and ensure resources are available to support project delivery requirements.

  • Lead and support team members, providing coaching and development where applicable.
Who we're looking for

We're looking for a proactive and strategic workforce planning professional who can balance long\-term planning with the realities of a fast\-paced operational environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong planning, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience managing workforce demand, deployment or resource planning within a complex environment.

  • The ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Excellent communication and relationship\-building skills.

  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.

  • Resilience, adaptability and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Good Microsoft Office skills and confidence working with workforce data and reporting tools.
Experience within power, utilities, construction, engineering or major infrastructure projects would be highly advantageous.
