Overview
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic University Teacher to join the School of Allied Health Professions, Pharmacy, Nursing and Midwifery. You will have the vision and drive to help us achieve our ambition of delivering an outstanding student experience and to equip our graduates to advance understanding in Orthoptics and be at the forefront of our profession. You will have expertise in Orthoptic practice and or research and related teaching experience and be committed to student engagement, student recruitment and student support.
This is a landmark year for our Orthoptic profession, as we get ready to deliver two pre\-registration Orthoptic undergraduate degree programmes \- our highly regarded BMedSci Orthoptic face to face programme and our new BSc Orthoptic Apprenticeship. Teaching will also include contribution to our postgraduate programmes \- the MMedSci Vision and Strabismus and the ACP Ophthalmology (paediatrics) as well as students studying standalone (CPD) modules.
Whatever your experience, we are looking for new ideas and approaches to help shape our programmes and educate graduates to be at the forefront of the profession. Other duties will include student engagement, student recruitment and student support.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Design, deliver and co\-ordinate high\-quality teaching, assessment, feedback and student support to enable effective learning
- Contribute to the design and development of programme modules that are accessible, inclusive and contribute to the University’s Teaching and Learning Strategy
- Develop and implement ideas for improving own teaching design, delivery and assessment
- Actively contribute to the collective vision, mission and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working
- Consistently take responsibility for outcomes, provide support to others and make inclusive decisions which together have a demonstrable positive impact within the School
- Constructively challenge established practice, structure and process in order to bring about positive change and improved outcomes
- Make ethical decisions in your role, embedding the University sustainability strategy into your working activities wherever possible
- Plan and prioritise your own daily research, teaching and administrative tasks as well as participate in longer term planning through contribution to policy development.
- Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
