The Role:
\- Plan daily transport operations for Ward operated vehicles and Sub Contractor Hauliers.
\- Build and maintain relationships with 3rd party hauliers
\- Liaise with drivers and internal sites to ensure smooth running of collections and deliveries.
\- Monitor vehicles and respond to delays or issues.
\- Ensure legal, safety and company standards are met, including vehicle and driver compliance
\- Some communication with customers, providing updates etc if required.
\- Support the team with ad hoc tasks where necessary.
\- Using Microsoft Package including Sharepoint and bespoke software.
The Skills:
\- Proven experience in transport planning is essential
\- Experience with the waste management sector is preferred but not essential
\- Great communication with both internal colleagues and external customers and hauliers
\- Ability to work as a team and individually
\- Proficient in Excel and other computer systems
\- Strong organisational and time management skills
\- Great problem\-solving abilities
\- Flexibility and good multi tasking skills
\- Great telephone manner
\- Good geographical knowledge
\- An eagerness to develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external hauliers and colleagues
\- Administration skills with the utmost attention to detail
Bonus if you have:
- Experience in a transport or logistics environment
- Knowledge of the Working Time Directive \& EU Driver Hours rules
- Familiarity with transport planning systems or telematics platforms
You’ll work k within our transport planning window of 07:00 – 17:00, with some flexibility needed depending on workload and operational needs.
