The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Transport Planner to join our Network Planning Centre team at our head office in Basingstoke – Chineham.

As a Transport Planner you will be responsible for planning products through the Gist network for Marks \& Spencer. Strong communication skills will be vital to ensuring a solid relationship with depots and customers throughout the UK and Ireland. Working in a fast\-paced environment, we encourage creativeness and thinking outside the box to ensure that efficient plans are created.

Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off working a 7:00am – 7:00pm shift pattern

Your key accountabilities will include:

• Using the Paragon Software planning tool to produce efficient plans for our depots and associated customers, whilst adhering to strict service requirements


• Analysing plans to identify network opportunities to reduce costs, drive efficiency to minimise our environmental impact and maximise profits


• Working with the operational teams to facilitate the delivery of initiatives

Your skills and experience will include:

• Highly motivated, resilient, and passionate, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure.


• Excellent communicator who builds strong relationships and collaborates effectively across teams and stakeholders.


• Proactive problem\-solver with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.


• Strong organisational and IT skills, with confidence using operational and transport management systems.


• Knowledge of Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations and drivers' hours legislation.


• Experience in road transport scheduling is desirable.
