Transport (HGV) Planner

About Us:

ETM Recycling is a leading recycling and waste management company operating across Bristol and the South West. As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced HGV Planner to support our busy transport operation.

The Role

This is a key role within our transport team, responsible for planning and coordinating our fleet of skips lorries, 8\-wheel HGVs, including tippers, grab lorries, and sweepers.

You will play a vital part in ensuring our vehicles are operating efficiently, jobs are delivered on time, and drivers are fully utilised throughout the day.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and routing daily work for a fleet of HGVs


• Booking in jobs and scheduling collections/deliveries


• Managing driver productivity and utilisation


• Organising backloads to maximise efficiency


• Acting as a key point of contact for driver and customer queries


• Responding to operational changes and resolving issues in real time


• Working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth service delivery

• Strong organisational and problem\-solving skills


• Ability to work in a fast\-paced, reactive environment


• Confident communicator with a proactive approach

• Proven experience in HGV planning/transport planning


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and general computer literacy.


• Good understanding of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices within the logistics sector.

• Background in aggregates, waste, or recycling industries


• Good geographical knowledge of the local area (Bristol)
