We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable and self\-motivated individual to join our post\-kidney transplant nurse specialist team. The post\-transplant team provide a busy and dynamic service to patients following a kidney transplant.

The successful candidate will join our nurse led post\-transplant follow\-up service based within the Renal Unit at Nottingham City Hospital, part of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).

This role will require you to be an autonomous practitioner working in a team providing lifelong follow\-up care to kidney transplant patients but also be part of a large multidisciplinary team managing the complex needs of adult kidney transplant patients.

Previous experience in renal nursing is essential and the successful candidate would be required to complete the Non\-Medical Prescribing qualification, if not already previously achieved.

The post is part\-time, working 24 hours over 3 working days. However, flexibility in working hours will occasionally be required. The post also requires participation in the transplant co\-ordinator on\-call rota which includes overnight or weekends (predominantly telephone based).

The main responsibilities are:

  • To take overall responsibility for the care of a caseload of patients requiring renal transplant care.

  • To provide specialist training across functional boundaries, as required for both patients and renal nursing staff.

  • To monitor and adjust immunosuppression dosages in transplant recipients.

  • To participate in the on\-call rota for transplant co\-ordination.
