Trainee Engineer (Fire & Warden Call)

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Providing comprehensive maintenance and servicing solutions across the South of England, ensuring sites remain in compliance whilst representing Sentinel at the highest standard.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Reports directly to a Field Team Leader, with responsibility for carrying out planned maintenances on systems including, but not limited to, Fire, Emergency Lighting and Warden Call. Potential to expand into other areas including Access Control, CCTV, Fire Extinguisher testing and reactive works.
SCOPE OF JOB
Area
Covering primarily south London and the south east.
Main Responsibilities
Health \& Safety
· Uphold rigorous H\&S behaviours through best\-practice demonstration
· Complete, sign and retain copies of required generic or site\-specific RAMS
· Adhere to H\&S policies as outlined in the company handbook
Operational
· Carrying out mainly planned maintenance and minor repairs / remedial works to Warden Call, Fire and Emergency Lighting Systems.
· Work in accordance with the schedule of maintenance works
· Carry out all work in the field to the defined quality standards in a timely and efficient manner.
· Carry out all work in the field to the defined standards as laid down in the Health \& Safety handbook.
· Maintain a positive image of the company to the customer at all times, through high standards of dress and customer communications.
· At the completion of each service visit electronically update the service system with a comprehensive service report.
· To comply with required booking practices, e.g. accurate time allocation and use of clear and concise job notes
· Ensure that all company vehicles \& tools provided are maintained in good working order.
· Flexible working hours and demonstrate a willingness to help colleagues and customers.
· Maintain an appropriate level of stock and ensure test equipment is maintained in good working order.
· Demonstrate accurate fault\-finding techniques where required.
· To be responsible for escalating difficulties that cannot be readily overcome or are likely to jeopardise the delivery of service commitments for the day.
· To use own discretion to make decisions and take appropriate action to meet the needs of the job whilst complying with processes and procedures.
· To ensure that you (and your team if applicable) are made aware of the need to safeguard sensitive customer information.
· To understand and comply with physical security requirements when visiting, working in, or accessing Sentinel’s or any of its customer’s sites.
· To be responsible for personal safety and to be aware of the safety of colleagues and general public by complying with all procedures within the Health and Safety Policy.
· To complete safety training and adhere to all safety standards as per company process
· To exhibit an awareness of Sentinel’s Environmental Policy sufficiently to understand the relevant aspects of the Policy e.g. recycling of hazardous waste
· To complete all mandatory and regulatory compliance training within required timescales.
· To ensure that Sentinel’s Code of Conduct is followed at all times.
· Complete appropriate administration and maintain accurate records
· Follow H\&S legislation \& guidance
· Meet client \& Company targets
· Provide your own basic tools (specialist ones will be provided)
· Build a relationship with the clients at concierge / warden level. Reports back to clients were necessary.
· To inform line management as appropriate of any reasons for lateness, failure to report, or withdrawal from duty.
Supply Chain
· Liaising with the office to order parts and equipment required for engineering delivery
· Ad\-hoc purchase of parts required to complete jobs and ensure first time fix.
· Customer Care
· Championing the highest standards of customer care to further ensure Sentinel maintains its position as a supplier of choice
· Supporting customers with any queries relating to on\-site works
· Quality and Standards
· Champion quality standards across all aspects of works
· Complete maintenance compliance certificates and reports within a timely fashion
· Report back on any remedials required

Field Team Leader, field\-based engineering team, customers, suppliers, external consultants and external auditors.
