Scope
The Engineering Department is looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the technical execution of complex defense system programs.
The TPM is responsible for ensuring the successful technical delivery of the program and the overall compliance of product performance with contractual requirements, while meeting scope, schedule, budget, quality, and program governance objectives.
Role
Within the framework of the program life cycle, contribution to the development, industrialization, qualification, production launch, and technical support of defense systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the technical execution of the program and coordinating all contributing engineering disciplines.
- Translating contractual requirements into a technical Scope of Work (SOW), requirements, deliverables, and responsibilities.
- Monitoring development, industrialization, qualification, production, quality, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities.
- Managing technical relationships with customers, partners, and subcontractors.
- Consolidating technical risks, opportunities, resources, workload, schedules, and budgets.
Essential Requirements
- Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a relevant technical field, such as systems engineering, mechanical engineering, electronics, software, vehicles, or complex system integration.
- Proven experience in technical project management, program management, systems engineering, system integration, or product development coordination.
- Good understanding of development, industrialization, qualification, production, and logistics support life cycles.
- Ability to understand, translate, and manage contractual and technical requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.
- Strong rigor, proactivity, autonomy, analytical thinking, and problem\-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively, communicate in a structured manner, align multidisciplinary teams, and arbitrate technical topics within a project environment.
- Ability to manage activities in accordance with project scope, schedule, milestones, and budget constraints.
- Availability for occasional short\-term travel assignments in Belgium and abroad.
- Experience in the defense, aerospace, railway, automotive, naval, or other regulated industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of project management, systems engineering, requirements management, IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation \& Qualification), configuration management, and change management methodologies.
- Experience with requirements management, planning, documentation, and configuration management tools.
- Experience managing technical customer relationships, subcontractors, and qualification or industrialization activities.
- Knowledge of PMI project management methodologies.
- Ensure the technical execution of the program and compliance of the product with contractual requirements.
- Apply program governance processes, gate and milestone reviews, and technical document management rules.
- Translate contractual commitments into a technical Scope of Work and contribute to defining responsibility allocation with the relevant departments.
- Coordinate technical activities within the Engineering Department throughout the project.
- Ensure technical coordination between Engineering, Industrialization, Production, Quality, ILS, Procurement, Supply Chain, and subcontractors.
- Manage technical interactions with customers regarding product definition, qualification, production, maintainability, and technical non\-conformities.
- Establish clear technical reporting and communicate consolidated information to the program steering committee.
- Contribute to the overall program schedule, monitor technical milestones, and implement mitigation actions when deviations occur.
- Provide line managers with the information required for resource planning and consolidate technical workload at program level.
- Support the Program Manager in budget tracking, variance analysis, and consolidation of technical costs.
- Ensure the timely release of definition and validation documentation, including:
- + Technical Data Packages (TDP)
+ Test plans
+ Tooling documentation
+ Test procedures
+ Internal ILS documentation
+ Assembly, adjustment, inspection, and commissioning dossiers
- Consolidate technical risks and opportunities, assess their impacts, and follow up on mitigation actions approved by the program governance body.
