Salary: £54,783 \- £59,911 annual salary

This is a temporary post for 2 years

An exciting opportunity has arisen in South Lanarkshire Roads, Transportation and Fleet services for a Team Leader.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to lead our Development Management Team.

You will have experience in relation to road design standards, drainage, construction methods and preferably transportation assessments and traffic modelling.

You must also have knowledge and experience of legislative and technical aspects in this area of work (e.g. Roads Construction Consent) and be able to assist with policy development in this area.

Whilst working as part of the wider roads team you should additionally be able to work individually to specific deadlines and direction.

A commitment to customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine, innovate and improve service delivery.

You will be expected to travel throughout the Council area.

For these posts and other across the Service we have adopted a flexible approach to the working arrangements.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team tasked with reviewing and auditing future developments in South Lanarkshire.

  • Efficient – What knowledge do you have of the development management functions undertaken by a Roads Authority, give examples from your experience. Please also provide details in relation to your experience in relation to assessing planning applications and construction consent applications.

  • Leading – What experience do you have in relation to project and people management. Please provide examples from your own experience where you have taken on a leading role in the delivery of a key tasks. Please highlight any challenges you encountered and the steps you took to overcome them.

  • Performing – Are there any areas of innovation and technology that the Council should embrace to help improve the way in which road authorities deliver services with the sole aim of improving the road network. Please discuss with relevant examples from your own experience.

  • Flexible – If your application for this post is successful, what do you see as the personal qualities that you will bring to the role of the Development Management Team Leader.
