Science Teacher – Job Description About the Academy
Stone Soup Academy is an Ofsted Outstanding Alternative Provision school in Nottingham supporting KS3 and KS4 students who struggled in mainstream education. The academy focuses on small class sizes, wellbeing, inclusion, and helping vulnerable young people achieve qualifications and positive futures.

Main Purpose of the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Teach GCSE Science
- Inspire students to enjoy and engage with Science
- Deliver high\-quality teaching and learning
- Support vulnerable learners academically and emotionally
- Help students achieve qualifications and positive outcomes
- Contribute to the wider academy community
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons
- Teach GCSE Science
- Differentiate learning for students with varied needs
- Use ICT effectively in lessons
- Assess, track, and report student progress
- Maintain high expectations and positive behaviour
- Set up and clear away experiments
- Manage the prep room
- Help develop schemes of work and curriculum planning
- Act as a tutor for a student group
- Monitor attendance, wellbeing, and academic progress
- Work closely with intervention staff and the SENCO
- Communicate with parents/carers
- Participate in meetings and training
- Support extracurricular activities
- Promote safeguarding and student welfare
- Contribute positively to academy culture
Preferred:
- Degree in Science or related subject
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Graduates
- Aspiring teachers willing to train
