Overview

Here at Out of the Box Services, also known as Friends Together, we believe that everyone should be able to live a fulfilling and inclusive life.

We are currently looking for confident and enthusiastic Support workers with experience of person\-centred approaches to enable our customers to live a happy and safe life from a service that meets the highest of standards.

We support our customers 7 days a week 52 weeks a year so there is no usual day while working at Out of the Box Services. Our clients need help with correspondence, food shopping, cooking, managing their household. They also need support to enjoy more fun things in life such as evenings out, cinema trips a Saturday afternoon playing pool or a Sunday walk in the Peak District.

If you have experience working with people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities or need support around their mental health and you have a desire to help individuals live fulfilled lives then we’d be interested hearing from you.

This is a lone working role that involves manual handling.

Core Duties

· Helping customers plan their support. This includes developing and delivering their support plan.

· Encouraging and enabling customer to complete their daily tasks, examples which include shopping for clothes and food and preparing meals as required. You will also help your customer with household tasks such as cleaning and laundry.

· Helping customers find opportunities in education, employment and leisure, and enabling them to take part in these opportunities.

· Helping customers to manage their own money, appointments and correspondence

· Arranging day to day travel and holidays as required.

· Proactively supporting our customers to enjoy a social life, meeting friends and enjoying leisure activities.

· Working in a supportive manner with colleagues, families and external parties, building trust by being open and honest.

· You will clock in and out of each shift using our online programme. You will keep daily written records, using IT systems as required to help you. You will update support plans, financial info, health and safety records and risk assessments when this is required.

Experience

  • · Attitudes which value people as an individual of equal worth to anyone else, with the same rights and to be treated with respect.
· Recognition that people's homes are important. Staff need to be able to ensure the home is safe, clean and homely, while being able to respect the customers privacy.

· Skill in recognising change, however small it may be and responding to it.

· The ability to recognise when an individual is making a poor decision and the skills to help them understand why a different choice may be appropriate.

· Ability to work in a team and contribute to it, which includes giving and receiving feedback.

· The ability to work alone using one’s own skills, training, and initiative to solve problems.

· Willingness to share skills and hobbies with individuals, working with them on a one\-to\-one basis, both inside and outside the home. Helping individuals to make the most of local resources.

· Ability to communicate with the individuals and other people (e.g. families, other agencies) on their behalf.

· Ability to keep accurate records, including financial.

· Willingness to work unsociable hours including weekends, bank holidays, early mornings and evenings.

Milage at 0\.55p a mile for drivers

Pay: £12\.85 per hour
